So I entered the my Tempest X levels in the Make Something Unreal Contest, and although I didn't win, I did place as a runner up and got an Honorable Mention nod. =)

Here is the full announcement:

CARY, N.C. – September 2, 2008 – Epic Games, Inc. today announced Phase 1 finalists for the “Best Deathmatch Level” category in its $1 Million Intel Make Something Unreal Contest. The competition rewards top mods created for Unreal Tournament 3with cash and hardware prizes in four preliminary phases and a grand final judging. Epic will reveal the winners in all 10 Phase 1 categories later this month at the Austin Game Developers Conference, September 15-17, 2008.

Sweeeet! I just read that Epic is going to going to have new Make Something Unreal contest for level designers!! They have a $1,000,000 in prizes and chance to get noticed in the industry. Looks like my social life is going to suffer seriously until this contest is over... hehe ;)

The final release for Tempest X is finally here!!! :) I could have had this completed weeks ago, but I spent the time making sure the music sounded as good as I could possibly make it. I also created excess work for myself by releasing both maps before Tempest X was fully ready, but I've made all the finishing touches to both maps and am sure that any issues with these levels will be minor. This has been one of the biggest projects I've ever completed, and I hope that you enjoy all of my hard work! :)

I've been really busy, but the final release is almost here! I've been working on the music to make sure that it's as good as I can possibly make it. I'm hoping to have the final out here in the next week... :)

Wow! I did not expect this. I was searching google for Tempest X so I could see if my sites been indexed by google. My sites sill not indexed, but I found another site that referenced my map, and I found out that the ESL (Electronic Sprots League) has published their mappool for the ESL Major Series II Event. My Beta 4 map is being used in two mappools for the qualification round! Pretty cool given that there is actual money involved for the winners! :) You can see my map and the others in the list here:

Also, I'm still working on this map. Don't worry about that. I'm doing the final touches on the level to make sure it's as close to retail quality as possible. I'm mainly just doing minor tweaks and finishing blocking everything off. The next release will also have a really cool addition that nobody has seen yet. ;) Once I'm done with that, and I finish the music I'm working on, this map is final... !!!

Thanks for visiting UnrealJunkie.com! Currently, I don't have much informaiton on here, but my plan is to make this another resource with updates regarding the Unreal series of games, and related info. I will have all my personally created maps, and I also hope to create some tutorials to help people just starting out with UnrealED.
